The director of Opciónate (“Improve your life and improve the world”), Ana Lidia Fernández-Layos, is taking part in the program of the 2nd Conference on Sexual Violence, organized by the Delegation of the Spanish Government in the Balearic Islands, on October 23 and 24 at the Son Lledó Building of the University of the Balearic Islands. The event features outstanding participation from specialists, institutional representatives, organizations dedicated to this field, the university, and the State Security Forces.
The conference will be held under the theme “Connected and Safe: Strategies Against Digital Sexual Violence,” and registration is already open on the social media profiles of the Government Delegation (@delegobillesbalears). Opciónate’s participation is scheduled for October 23 and will focus specifically on the prevention of gender-based cyberviolence.
The program also includes contributions from prominent experts, along with significant representation from public administrations involved in the fight against gender-based violence—especially in the digital sphere.
Thus, on Thursday, October 23, contributions will be made by Elisa García, an expert on digital violence; Carmen Martínez, Government Delegate for Gender-Based Violence, who will present the results of the study “Violence Against Women, Girls, Boys and Adolescents in the Digital Environment”; and Nira Santana, a creator, researcher, and trainer specializing in art, digital culture, and video games, among other speakers.
On Friday, October 24, Júlia Salander, a political scientist, data analyst, and feminist digital activist, will open the day’s session.
This will precede the analysis of the map of institutional resources addressing digital sexual violence, featuring contributions from Valentina Milano, Professor of Public International Law at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), expert in human rights, gender-based violence, and human trafficking, and member of the Committee of Experts for the Development of a Safe Digital Environment for Youth and Children of the Ministry of Youth and Childhood; representatives of the Technological Crimes and Economic Crime Unit of the National Police Headquarters in the Balearic Islands; the Civil Guard; and the Subdirectorate General for Inter-Institutional Coordination on Violence Against Women.
Registration is available at the following link: II Jornadas Violencia Sexual IB 2025, and attendees may participate in person or online, as the sessions will be streamed live.
