The training, delivered by Ana Lidia Fernández Layos, provided professionals with tools for the identification, prevention, and response to gender-based violence in digital environments.
On May 6th and 8th, Opciónate, delivered the online training “Addressing Cyber Gender-Based Violence”, aimed at professionals from the Instituto de Atención Social y Sociosanitaria (IASS), as part of a shared commitment to strengthening prevention and response to gender-based violence in digital environments.
The training, with a total duration of 6 hours, is designed for a group of 30 professionals, prioritising staff working in gender-based violence services, including the Gender-Based Violence Unit (UOVG) and Women’s Support Centres.
Strengthening professional capacities to address digital violence
The main objective of this training is to provide participants with practical tools to address cyber gender-based violence in both prevention (secondary and tertiary) and victim support.
The sessions will cover key topics such as digital rights and responsibilities, cyberviolence and online hate crimes, as well as the origins and different forms of gender-based violence in digital contexts.
Prevention, response and a comprehensive approach
The training will explore strategies to prevent cyberviolence, including online self-concept, digital ethics, cybersecurity, digital self-defence and the promotion of digital equality.
It will also provide specific tools to support victims from psychological, legal and cybersecurity perspectives, fostering a coordinated and comprehensive approach to intervention.
Participatory methodology and rights-based approach
Delivered online, the training follows a participatory, practical and experiential methodology, incorporating a gender, diversity, human rights and intercultural perspective throughout.
