A workshop given by their cybersecurity expert taught them keys and tools to protect themselves in virtual environments.

Digital self-defense is a form of response to cyber violence received in virtual environments. It focuses, on the one hand, on responding to those who attack, and, on the other, on supporting victims of harassment, taking advantage of the potential of networks to create support groups. This support for victims involves teaching them keys, tools and strategies with which to deal with potential attacks from sexist cyber-aggressors.

Users of the Insular Service for Prevention and Attention to Sexist Cyber Violence (SIPACM) recently participated in a workshop given by Service personnel, where they learned how to act when suspected that they are being geolocated, how to deal with cybercrimes related to the dissemination of images of sexual content on networks and TRICs or what to do in the face of manifestations of hate online, cyberbullying or the creation of false accounts on social networks.

Seeing digital self-defense from a feminist approach means analyzing cybercrimes from a gender perspective, to become aware of the digital risks to which women and girls are exposed due to their sex. Likewise, it involves working individually and collectively so that they can participate on the internet safely.
