The Local Council Staff of Santa Lucía de Tirajana deepens its understanding of equality

Between June and October 2018, Opciónate led a total of 26 gender equality training sessions aimed at the municipal staff of the Santa Lucía de Tirajana Town Council, in the southeast of Gran Canaria, which were attended by more than 400 people.

The training took place in the morning, in 3-hour sessions, and at three basic training levels: parks and gardens, administration and direct care, and advanced level with workers in the field of social action and gender equality.

Opciónate used a practical, creative, playful, participatory and experiential methodology, oriented towards individual and collective analysis and personal and collective awareness, encouraging exchange and individual and group work with creative dynamics based on popular education, Gestalt therapy and emotional and social intelligence.

Theoretical elements, key questions, exercises, and concrete cases for the application of knowledge to personal and professional practice were also raised throughout the sessions. The training also promoted critical analysis and debates in plenary and small groups to identify and resolve the main doubts, difficulties, resistances, and obstacles in the practical application in different contexts.
