ICI commissions Opciónate to carry out a diagnosis of the Canary Islands’ accommodation resources.

The Canary Islands Institute for Equality (ICI) commissioned Opciónate to carry out a participatory assessment to identify areas for improvement and proposals in the accommodation resources for Victims of Gender Violence in the Canary Islands.

Through documentary analysis and visits and interviews with the staff of the accommodation resources on the 7 islands, the objective was to update and standardise, using a participatory methodology, the existing protocols in the network of accommodation resources for victims of gender-based violence in the Canary Islands. This initiative was carried out with funding from the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality.

The results were presented at the headquarters of the Canarian Institute of Equality in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in a regional meeting organised by Opciónate with the participation of 7 islands accommodation resources´  coordination and technical staff (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro). A representative of the Red Cross in Asturias who works in the Casa Malva accommodation resource for gender violence survivors presented their working experience.
