Ana Lidia Fernández-Layos, director of the organization Opciónate, expert in emotional intelligence, Gestalt therapist, and holder of a Degree in Social and Legal Sciences, is part of the teaching team for the “Training Sessions for the Prevention of Sexual Violence in Children and Adolescents in Care”, an online training or webinar promoted by the Márgenes y Vínculos Foundation with funding from the Ministry of Equality and the Canary Islands Government through the Canary Islands Institute of Equality.
Registration is free, with limited places, and can be completed on the platform www.fmyv.org, by calling 928 244 902, or by emailing cslaspalmasformacion@fmyv.org. The director and founder of Opciónate will participate in the fourth session of the training, scheduled for November 25 and 27, focused on the prevention of sexual violence, together with social educator Juan Jesús Cardoso Oneto, coordinator of the child and adolescent abuse prevention team in the city of Cádiz.
This training arises from the need to strengthen knowledge and the use of tools among professionals in the child protection and juvenile justice systems when addressing sexual violence that children and adolescents may suffer. It is aimed at technical personnel in the child protection system and the juvenile justice system of the Canary Islands.
The profound impact that this type of violence can have on people’s real lives and across different digital environments underscores the importance of promoting practical training that supports prevention. In addition, the program encourages the ability to detect and intervene early in possible cases of sexual violence, thus helping to create safer and more protective environments for children and adolescents.
The session in which Fernández-Layos participates will work on dismantling the myths associated with sexual violence through dynamics and practical exercises. It will also present good practices related to the prevention of sexual violence to help identify what approaches may work with children and adolescents. Likewise, tools will be identified and provided to recognize sexual violence in digital environments, including the platforms where children and adolescents tend to interact.
