The City Council of the island of La Palma promotes training to raise awareness among students about the impact of sexist cyber violence and promote safe and responsible use of the digital environment.

The Los Llanos de Aridane City Council is launching a training program for Secondary School students with the aim of preventing and raising awareness about sexist cyber violence and other risks in the digital environment.
The initiative, titled Prevention of all forms of gender cyber violence: networks, pornography consumption and consequences, will offer a total of 40 hours of training distributed in workshops aimed at third and fourth year ESO students from four educational centers in the municipality. In total, 10 groups will participate in sessions of one hour each, which will take place between February and June 2025.
Training contents
The program will address key topics for awareness and prevention of cyber violence, including:

  1. The digital world and youth participation: digital footprint, influencers, benefits and risks, digital ethics and cybercitizenship.
  2. Cyber ​​violence and cyber hate crimes: identification and analysis of the different forms of online violence.
  3. Sexist cyber violence: origin, types and prevention and coping strategies.
  4. Cyberactivism and cyberequality: proposals for individual and collective action to promote a more equitable digital coexistence.

Metodología participativa y enfoque de género

El programa se desarrollará bajo una metodología participativa, combinando teoría y práctica con actividades vivenciales que permitirán a las y los participantes reflexionar sobre sus hábitos digitales y sus derechos en el entorno online. Además, se trabajará con un enfoque de género, diversidad, derechos humanos e interculturalidad, garantizando un aprendizaje inclusivo y adaptado a la realidad del alumnado.

Con esta iniciativa, el Ayuntamiento de Los Llanos de Aridane refuerza su compromiso con la educación en valores y la erradicación de la violencia de género en el ámbito digital, brindando a la juventud herramientas para desenvolverse en un mundo digital más seguro y equitativo.
