The collaboration between the entities allowed training on cybersecurity and digital self-defense in Vecindario.
‘Working and continuing to create alliances with other entities is vital to teach citizens how to be on the Internet safely and use it responsibly’. With these words, Ana Lidia Fernández-Layos, director of Opciónate, closed the training on cybersecurity and digital self-defense that, in collaboration with the association Creativa de Vecindario, it is given in the Gran Canarian municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana.
During the session, Opciónate staff addressed topics such as data protection, digital rights and duties, both individual and collective, the measures that guarantee safe browsing and the various support resources that exist to deal with cybercrimes and cyberviolence. The participants finished the training with a personal plan to improve the use of their digital devices from a greater cybersecurity perspective.
The training provided by Opciónate is characterised by an experiential, dynamic, theoretical-practical and participatory methodology, in which the gender and intersectional approach is also present. The confluence of objectives between both entities facilitated the collaboration and the good results of the experience. The Association for the Promotion of Employment and Social Cohesion (Creative Association) works to promote employment, training and social integration of people at risk of social exclusion. To this end, it carries out personalised and individualised actions, as a basic element to promote the integration of people with special integration difficulties.
“We would like to thank the entity and all the participants for both their interest and the very interesting contributions they have made,” said Fernández-Layos, who insisted on the importance of continuing to work towards safer and more conscious navigation on the Internet.
