Training Sessions for International Human Rights Day in the Canary Islands: ‘breaking down borders, adding Equality in sport’

Opciónate has organised at the request of the Vice-Ministry of Equality and Diversity of the Government of the Canary Islands, within the framework of the Canarian Strategy for Equal Transition, the III Training Days for the International Human Rights Day in the Canary Islands: ‘breaking down borders, adding Equality in sport’.

These training days were held on 16 and 17 December 2022 and took place in two different educational spaces: the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, specifically the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, and the Gran Canaria Basketball Sports Club. Thanks to the support of these two institutions, it was possible to hold a conference whose main focus was to make visible, through first-person testimonies, the frontiers that women cross or have crossed in the field of sport and equality and how they have dealt with them. In addition, a joint reflection on the role of sport in on the role of sport in the construction of a more egalitarian society.
