Date of implementation: April 2024 – November 2024
Funded by: Agencia Canaria de investigación, Innovación y Sociedad de la Información (Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and the Information Society)
Description:
Opciónate collaborates again in 2024 as a gender equality advisor with the Canarian Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI) in the implementation of the European project ATHENA.
ATHENA is a research project funded by the European Union under the Framework Program for Research and Innovation H2020, specifically in the call H2020-SwafS-2020-1, which focuses on the objective “Science with and for Society”. Its main objective is to implement gender equality plans in research organizations to eliminate barriers in the recruitment, retention and career progression of female researchers.
This project has a duration of 4 years and seeks to address gender imbalances in decision making, as well as to generate a cultural change necessary to avoid future gender bias and discriminatory practices. It focuses on the implementation of Gender Equality Plans (GEP) in six research organizations (RPO) and two research funding organizations (RFO) in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as in outermost regions of the European Union, including the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society, for which Opciónate will be working, and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC).
Among the actions to be developed by Opciónate in the framework of this consultancy is the complete review from a gender approach and to ensure inclusive non-sexist language, of more than twenty funding calls, of the fixed content of the website of ACIISI and Ciencia Canaria, and of the publications of both profiles of their social networks. In addition, staff training needs in gender equality will be assessed and training will be designed and delivered for the entire ACIISI staff in the last quarter of the year. Finally, Opciónate will be in charge of carrying out a participatory consultation to assess the institutional implementation of the ACIISI Equality Plan.
