2nd Conference on Sexual Violence “Connected and Safe”

The 2nd Conference on Sexual Violence “Connected and Safe”, organized by the Delegation of the Spanish Government in the Balearic Islands, will bring together at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) a wide range of specialists, institutional representatives, social organizations, universities, and security forces, with the aim of analyzing and sharing strategies to address digital sexual violence.

In this edition, Ana Lidia Fernández-Layos, director of Opciónate (“Improve your life and improve the world”), will take part as a speaker on October 23, sharing the organization’s experience in preventing gender-based cyberviolence. Her participation is part of Opciónate’s ongoing work in training, awareness-raising, and the promotion of safe and equal digital environments.

The program features prominent experts such as Elisa García, a specialist in digital violence; Carmen Martínez, Government Delegate for Gender-Based Violence, who will present the results of the study “Violence Against Women, Girls, Boys, and Adolescents in the Digital Environment”; and Nira Santana, researcher and trainer in art, digital culture, and video games.

On October 24, the session will open with Júlia Salander, political scientist and feminist digital activist, followed by a panel analyzing institutional resources to combat digital sexual violence, with contributions from Valentina Milano (UIB), representatives of the National Police, the Civil Guard, and the Subdirectorate General for Inter-Institutional Coordination on Violence Against Women.

The conference is open to the public, both in person and online, with sessions live-streamed. It serves as a space for dialogue and reflection, fostering progress toward a more connected, safe, and equal society.
