Opciónate carries out the development of the project for the promotion of gender equality: “La Aldea Infinita”, funded by the Department of Equality of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, within the “Marco Estratégico por la Igualdad Gran Canaria Infinita” (Strategic Framework for Equality Gran Canaria Infinita). Specifically, the project is included in the Institutional Change Programme that integrates training projects with a gender perspective and intersectionality, gender mainstreaming and LGTBIQ+, coordinated work and improvement of the care services.
The project aims to promote institutional change with the objective of eliminating any kind of direct or indirect gender discrimination, as well as consolidating the mainstreaming of equality policies in all areas of the city council and at all levels of the municipal structure, improving the institutional response and promoting coordinated and networked work.
Systemic work will be carried out to raise awareness and provide information on equality, in collaboration with the economic fabric and the associative and cultural movement, which will allow for the identification and rejection of discrimination based on sex. Likewise, the institutional response in the field of promoting gender equality will be strengthened at all levels of the administration that act directly in the municipal territory.
The methodology used will allow to make effective the adequate mainstreaming of equality policies in the action of the Municipal Corporation of the Aldea de San Nicolás. This will be achieved through a working structure and the use of flexible methodologies of citizen participation that enable greater consensus and agreement and involve the greatest possible number of people in a coordinated work with institutions outside the Local Entity.
