On March 16, 2026 Opciónate hostet the first workshop of its “Digital Citizenship and Ethics” training at El Soco – Participa GC, Triana, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The session focused on digital participation, cyber equality, and prevention of online violence, encouraging reflection on how to participate in networks without reproducing harmful behaviors and how to create safer, more equitable digital spaces.
Participants explored guidelines to foster critical and responsible digital citizenship, analyzing the impact of algorithms and artificial intelligence on young people’s online lives. The workshop used experiential methodologies that promote positive interactions online while reinforcing gender equality and the prevention of online violence.
This training is part of the Citizen Participation Promotion Program, promoted by FULP and GEDE of ULPGC, with the support of Participa Gran Canaria and the Cabildo de Gran Canaria. Opciónate thanks all participants and reaffirms its commitment to educating for cyber equality and supporting youth in creating safe, inclusive, and respectful digital environments.
The other two workshops will take place on April 28: Identity and Self-Esteem in the Age of the Like, and on April 29: Cyber Equality, Digital Citizenship, and Online Coexistence: Participation in Action.
