Description:
The congress “Innovating in the Social Sphere: Same Rights, Different Perspectives”, organized by Sic4change and Casa Africa provided a space for reflection and dialogue focused on addressing current challenges related to human rights in contexts of social inequality.
Our founder and director Ana Lydia Fernández Layos took part in this initiative, contributing its expertise in equality, violence prevention and digital equality, and engaging in collective analysis on structural barriers that hinder effective access to rights, particularly for migrant populations.
Key topics addressed included the lack of real universality of human rights, difficulties in regularisation processes, and limited access to fundamental rights such as employment, housing, healthcare and education. The discussions also highlighted how certain legal frameworks can generate situations of irregularity and precariousness.
Opciónate presented its digital equality perspective, emphasising that social inequalities are also reproduced in digital environments. The importance of promoting digital human rights from a feminist, ethical and co-responsibility approach was highlighted.
This project reinforced Opciónate’s commitment to fostering critical thinking spaces, promoting social advocacy, and contributing to a more just, inclusive society where human rights are upheld in all areas, including the digital sphere.
